Choosing your Pool Finish
Choosing the right pool surface is one of the most important decisions in achieving the exact water color you envision. Finishes such as plaster, quartz, or pebble don’t just affect texture and durability—they directly influence how your pool water appears. Lighter finishes tend to produce bright, Caribbean-blue tones, while darker finishes create deeper, richer blues or even a lagoon-like appearance. The key is understanding that you’re not just selecting a surface—you’re designing the final color and overall feel of your pool.
It’s also important to know that water color is not static and can change depending on several factors. Screen enclosures (cages) can soften or slightly dull the color by filtering sunlight, while the time of day affects how light reflects off the surface—morning and midday often appear brighter, while evenings bring out deeper tones. Seasonal changes and sun angles throughout the year can also shift how your pool looks, and depth plays a major role as well, with deeper areas appearing darker and more насыщенный than shallow sections. By considering all of these elements, you can select a finish that delivers the look you want in every condition.
Depth of pool affects the color of the pool. Cages can also darken the appearance of the surface of the pool.
